Shimogamo Saryo

Kaiseki/Kappo Traditional Japanese Cuisine
Next to World Heritage Site Shimogamo Shrine, this old restaurant was established in 1856 and has a long history and tradition. It is a popular place that retains the practice of unique Kyoto hospitality. Upon passing through the entrance curtain one can feel history through the elegant furnishings, and the beautiful garden skillfully maintained for over 100 years is an impressive sight. The food is based around Kyoto vegetables and other local produce. The lunch limited Lunch Mini Kaiseki (course meal) comes recommended, featuring eight dishes served in bowl and tray. With this one can taste traditional Japanese flavors at a reasonable price.
