Yayoi café
A café produced by Yayoi, famed for its chirimenjako dried young sardines cooked with green Japanese peppercorn. The café is located 50 meters south of Yasaka Shrine’s Minami ro mon (South Gate). The shop serves pastas and seasoned rice made with Yayoi’s renowned ojako young sardines, ochazuke tea on rice, and sweets such as the Osu sansho cake made with matcha green tea and sansho Japanese pepper. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the café also serves a limited number of bowls of jako-gayu, dried young sardine porridge (reservation required).
