Saigoku-Souvenir Shop Kagiya

A souvenir shop operated by the Kamenoi Besso high class inn in Yufuin, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture which sells signature foods and locally-made crafts. The shop’s jams, lovingly made with seasonal fruit primarily from Oita Prefecture, are popular for how the flavor and fragrances of the ingredients come through in the finished product. The winter only “yuzu-neri” jam is so popular it disappears from the shelves very fast but makes an excellent gift if you can get your hands on it. The interior of the shop, located inside a late Edo period merchant’s house, is charming and subdued.

乾燥柚子を買いました。400円程度でしたが、自宅に戻って、そばなどに入れると、とても風味豊かで美味しかったです。

何度訪れてもいい。四季折々の花が咲き、行く度毎に違った顔を見せてくれる金鱗湖。油屋熊八翁が亀の井別荘を構えたのも頷ける。それが全て。古びた暗い鍵屋に並んでいる値の張るシャレオツなコップや保存食、小物は土産物として良いと思う。

オリジナルブランドのオシャレなお土産が多く、贈答品としても喜ばれそうです。店内ではおいしそうなおはぎもあり、イートインスペースもありました。食料品以外にも和物の小物アイテムも数多く取り揃えていました。
