Lake Mashu, which is located in Teshikaga, Kawakami District, Hokkaido, has some of the clearest water in the world, with a unique blue tint that has come to be known as “Mashu Blue”; it is a very popular tourist attraction. Lake Mashu is often covered with dense fog; tourists from all over Japan flock to the Lake to experience its mysterious beauty during the brief periods when the fog lifts. Of the three observation decks around the Lake, the First Observation Deck is the most widely used; it provides excellent views of Lake Mashu, Kamuishu Island in the middle of the Lake, and the imposing mountains that surround the Lake. There is a rest house where visitors can buy snacks and local specialty products.

訪れた日は風が強くて怖いくらいでしたが、とても綺麗に晴れ渡った摩周湖を眺めることができました。遠くは知床半島の山々まで見渡せました。
冬場、駐車場は無料です

昨年12月。数年ぶりに摩周湖に行ってきました。冬場は無料で開放されている駐車場には、ほぼ車はいません。数台停まっていた車は、レストハウスの従業員のものだと思います。もちろん、第一展望台には人の姿はありませんでした。澄みきった晩秋の空気の中、眼前にくっきりと姿を現せてくれた摩周湖は、私たちだけのものでした。冬の摩周湖、おすすめです!
冬場は子の展望台しか行けません！

この展望台からの景色が綺麗です。冬の日没間近の時間帯に訪れましたので、湖面が少し赤みを帯びてとても印象的でした。冬場にはこの場所に登ってくるには雪道の運転に自信が無いと難しいですね。今回はツアーでしたので心配することなく楽しめました。
