Noboribetsu Bear Park
The Hokkaido Brown Bear was traditionally worshipped by the Ainu people as Kim-un Kamuy, the “Spirit who Dwells in the Mountains.” The Noboribetsu Bear Park has succeeded in breeding Hokkaido Brown Bears, and currently has around 100 bears. The Park also features an observation platform with views over Lake Kuttara, and Yuttara Village where visitors can experience Ainu culture. The Donan Bus service from JR Noboribetsu Station takes around 20 minutes to reach the Park. By car, the Park is approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the Noboribetsu Interchange on the Hokkaido Expressway.
