"This Japanese confectionery store was founded in Esashi town in 1870. The authentic ""Marukan-Yokan"", cut by a string, and ""Nagashi-Yokan"", are made with great care. It takes great skill to knead the beans, agar and sugar which begins early in the morning and takes all day. The shop is proud of its tradition and continues making products with the same, unchanging flavor. Other than yokan (sweet bean jelly), Monaka (red bean filled wafers) castella, and seasonal Japanese confectionary are available, and all make great gifts. The old-fashioned packaging is popular."

函館空港でも買えるけど、さすが本店

明治時代以前からあるお菓子の店で、江差名物の羊羹で有名。丸缶に入っているのが特徴だが一枚板になっているタイプもある。他にたい焼きのような鮭の形をしたあきあじ最中もある。今は函館市内や空港にも売っているのでわざわざ江差で買うほどでもないが、せっかく江差に来たらいにしえ街道から坂を上がって新地町まで行き、本店を訪れてみたい。

昔は有名な感じがして懐かしいようかんです。今のひとはようかん何て食わないのが現状です。お年寄りにお土産で買うと喜びますね

函館から定期観光バスの江差周遊コースで、江差を訪れました。お店は海岸沿いの国道から山の方に少し上がった場所にあります。筒型の羊羹がこちらの名物で、１本から購入できます。小豆ではなく金時豆で作っているそうです。でも、小豆で作った筒型羊羹もパッケージを変えてありました。味比べをしようと思い、両方をお土産に購入しました。もちろん羊羹以外にも、おいしそうな和菓子が並んでいました。定期観光バスのコー...
