Sugar beets Museum
This museum is located approximately a 10-minute drive from JR Obihiro Station. It was built in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Nippon Beet Sugar Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The factory has exhibits and explanations of materials and processes related to the cultivation and manufacture of sugar and its raw material, sugar beet. The first exhibition room contains reproduction models of the old Obihiro Sugar Plant and other artifacts from the time of its construction. The second exhibition room contains exhibits that display the history of the technology and actual farm equipment that was historically used. And in the third exhibition room, the history of the sugar industry as a whole is displayed in three dimensions with panels and models. There are also videos that show the cultivation of sugar beet and the manufacturing process of sugar.
