This cultural facility exhibits materials related to the former National Railway Shihoro line, which was decommissioned in 1987. The museum is located in the remains of the former Nukabira Station, and displays rails and trains actually used on the line. Inside the building, you can watch a film taken from the driver's seat back when the line was in use, showing the run from Obihiro Station to Nukabira Station. There are exhibits of rail maps, explanations of the history of the Shihoro line, pictures of construction, and track maintenance tools as well, all recreating that time in Shihoro's history. The authentic enamel station name signs and nostalgic timetables are hugely popular with rail fans.

旧国鉄士幌線の資料館で入館料は１００円と安いです。もともと糠平駅だった場所を資料館として活用しているようです。廃線跡の線路上を歩いたりと貴重な体験ができました。タウシュベツ川橋梁とセットで訪れると見識も増すと思います。

糠平温泉の近くで鉄道資料館の看板を見つけて行ってみました。帯広から十勝三股へ向かって北へ延びていた旧国鉄士幌線の資料館です。個人的には廃線前の士幌線を知っていて、邦画に取り上げられることの多かった北海道のローカル線らしい資料に満足できました。糠平温泉へ行った時には訪れて欲しい資料館です。残念ながらアトラクションのトロッコ電車は休止中で、次回は是非にと思います。

国鉄時代の旧士幌線のコンクリートアーチ橋梁を巡っていたこの日。糠平の町に入った直後の、国道から少し外れたところに、上士幌町鉄道資料館がありました。旧士幌線に関する資料があるので楽しみにして訪れましたが、コロナのため（？）休館中でした。敷地内には旧士幌線の線路や車両が残されていました。訪れたのは５月の松でしたが、敷地の桜はちょうど満開を迎えていました。標高が高いので、こんなに遅く満開を迎えるん...
