An art museum which displays drawings by Togyu Okumura, an artist who stood at the top of the Japanese painting world. The entirety of the museum's collection was donated by Okumura; encompassing 207 sketches and calligraphy works including those created by the artist, the content of the museum's exhibit is changed three times a year. Okumura was active throughout his life, paining until the age of 101, and here visitors can come in contact with the artist's work in its rawest form.

建物も素晴らしい

佐久穂町出身かと思ったら、戦時中疎開されていたそうです。素描画がたくさん展示されています。二階のシャンデリアや格天井、柱時計のカチカチいう音が、とても素敵でした。お庭も歩けます。
歴史を感じさせる建物

長年の念願だった、奥村土牛記念館へ行ってきました。小さい作品やデッサンなどが多く展示はやや物足りませんでしたが、歴史を感じさせる建物で落ち着いた雰囲気で、ゆっくり鑑賞できました。八千穂駅のすぐ目の前にあり、元は地元の合同会社の建物だったそうで、なかなか由緒ある雰囲気の建物です。展示室がある本館の裏手にある別棟に、奥村土牛が戦時中に疎開していた縁で、この記念館ができたそうです。入館料も500円...
作品はやや数、号数とも迫力に欠けるが建物や庭も楽しめます

佐久穂駅前の豪邸風建物が美術館。作品はデッサンが多く迫力不足の印象。展示数もそんなに多くないけど500円だから許せるか。庭や建物も中々渋いので楽しめます。
