Jorakuji Temple Art Museum
An art museum located on the grounds of the Joraku-ji Temple. The Joraku-ji Temple stands on the bank of a pond, and the museum preserves and displays works of art connected to the temple as well as ema votive tablets and other objects offered to the Kitamuki Kannon Temple on the grounds. The museum is famous for its collection of ancient roof tiles from famous temples across the country, but there are many other rare items in the collection well-worth seeing, such as woodblock prints by Shiko Munakata, a prayer diary created by the great Tokugawa Ieyasu at the age of 71, a manuscript written in Hakushu Kitahara's own hand, and a statue of Kannon dating to China's Song dynasty. Note that the museum's hours differ slightly depending on the time of year.
