Otsuka Shuzo

Sake Brewery
A sake brewery situated east on Babaura-dori Street from the front gate of Komoro Castle. This long-standing brewery, established in the late Edo period, is known for its deep connection to the literati; for example, in the Meiji period, Komoro Gijuku school teacher Toson Shimazaki composed a poem about the company. The company's Asamadake, a celebrated seishu refined sake made since it was established, is crated with underground spring water from Mt. Asama and rice grown in Nagano Prefecture. The brewery also sells Kenshin, a health-promoting liqueur created with odorless garlic. With an advance reservation, from April to September visitors can view the brewery's sake making tools.
