This museum exhibits artifacts excavated from the Kamegaoka site as well as those from other sites within the city and prefecture. At a reconstructed pit dwelling, dolls crafted to look just like people from the Jomon period (14,000-300 BC) recreate life as it was during the time, and even speak to visitors in their ancient language. A replica of the goggle-eyed dogu clay figurine on display at the Tokyo National Museum is currently being exhibited.

北海道・北東北の縄文遺跡群のユネスコ世界文化遺産登録と関係があるのか１０月中旬から１１月上旬まで入場料２００円のところが無料でラッキー。名前のとおり、展示物は軽め。スマホスタンプラリースポットにつき足を運ぶ人は多そう。まちおこしや観光誘客効果に期待できるか定かではありません。
大きな施設に少ない展示

1階に大きな復原竪穴住居と重文遮光器土偶（複製）の展示があり、2階にはつがる市で出土した土器、石器などが展示してあります。しかし数が少なく、また説明文もほとんどないのでこれだけ？といった感じです。土器以外にも、つがる一帯の考古学的な変遷も加えてもっと充実して欲しいところです。
縄文土器中心の資料館

つがる市役所そばにある、縄文土器や土偶についての資料館です。先史時代については個人的に興味が薄いせいか、展示が単調であまり興味をそそられませんでした。縄文時代好きなら楽しめるかもしれません。
