Old Nisshin Building

Historical Monument
A historical building in Shirominami-machi, Yokote City. It was built in 1902 for Charles C. Champlin when he was assigned to the former Yokote Middle School as an English teacher. Afterwards it was the home of missionary Martin M. Smizer who lived in the house for a long period until his passing. As a western style building it features unique Shiraki-zukuri styles of wood construction and has been designated a Tangible Cultural Property of the Prefecture.
