This history museum is located Kakuda-machi, Kakuda City. It is situated inside of a mansion built by one of the area’s most prominent landowning families over the course of the Meiji and Taisho periods. The museum’s exhibits include archeological and historical materials pertaining to the region’s history and folk culture. Starting in mid-February each year, the museum exhibits hina dolls believed to have belonged to Muuhime, the second daughter of Date Masamune. She is said to have brought the dolls with her when she married into the Kakuda Ishikawa family.

角田の大地主の生活が見られる場所

大地主さんの家を郷土資料館として無料で公開されています。この地主さんは明治に貿易で財を成し角田でも指折りの地主さんになったみたいです。初代から３代にかけて氏家丈吉を名乗っていたそうです。花がデザインされた陶器のトイレやステンドグラスのある浴室など、当時の生活を垣間見ることができます。

見学のメインになる家屋は三代続いた氏家丈吉さんの邸宅です。先代の没後に跡取りが父と同じ名前を名乗ったんだとか。その話を聞いただけで名家であることがわかりました。当時としては珍しい写真も残っていたりして保存状態がよかったです。見学は無料なのに説明してもらえました。

角田市役所の南にあります。明治から大正にかけての旧大地主の資料館ですが、資料館には江戸時代から受け継いでいるものが沢山あります。蔵の多さにびっくりしですが、蔵の中には、歴史資料や民俗資料が展示されていました。
