"This old temple has the legend that the three bodies of Bhaisajyaguru, Amida Nyorai, and Kannon, which were buried at the depths of the Mugi River, were rescued and enshrined as the main treasure around 1657. After that, it was restored and reopened in 1709, and has a history as a major dojo of Shingon Buddhism that trained many young people. Because there are 8,000 plants of several hundred kinds of hydrangea planted on the grounds, it is famous as ""Ajisai no Yamadera"" (mountain temple of hydrangea). The colorful hydrangea bloom like flower mandalas from mid-June to the beginning of July, best time to see them. The Hydrangea Festival is held during this time, which includes the sale of seedlings and prayer services, and it attracts many tourists from all over the country."

非常に小さなお寺ですがアジサイで有名なお寺です。全国的に見てアジサイで有名なお寺や神社は珍しくありませんが、ここは百数十種のアジサイが8,000-9,000株植えられています。この種類の多さは他とは異なる魅力かと思います。ただ、私が行ったのは7月後半で、ほぼ枯れてしまっておりました。。。見頃は6月-7月初旬だそうです。お寺としては近くの武儀川の淵に光る物を見付け、取り出してみると薬師如来...

山寺と呼ぶにふさわしい山門とヤマアジサイがとても素敵です。アジサイの苗の販売もしていました。モネの池のような池には大きな鯉がたくさんいて100円で鯉の餌も販売しています。
紫陽花寺
