Oshu City Warrior Residence Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
A restored Edo period samurai residence on Ote-dori Street west of JR Mizusawa Station. It is said to have been the residence of Uchida Kannojo, an imperial guard. It's counted as one of the most prestigious samurai residences in Oshu City. About 29 meters wide and 55 meters deep, it features a thatch roofed yakuimon style front gate. Oshu City has designated it a cultural asset to pass on how senior samurai lived in the region during the late Edo period. The adjacent Samurai Residence Museum has an exhibition of valuable historical materials and offers guidance for exploring the area.
