取手駅東口から徒歩10分ほど。道路から奥まったところにあり、道路からはわかりにくいです。本陣裏に駐車場があります。公開が金、土、日のみで、それ以外の日は門が閉じられ、外観も見ることができないのが残念です。
利根川散策時に立ち寄るには必須

江戸時代、水戸街道が利根川に遮られ、江戸入域最後の宿場として取手があったようだ。その際の、本陣として機能していたとのこと。利根川河川敷散策はJR取手駅から５分程度、そのあと２-３分で取手図書館の前を通り、旧水戸街道から一歩入ったところにあります。
