Nakaminato Reverberatory Furnace Ruin

Historical Monument
A prefectural designated Historic Site in Shaka-machi, Hitachinaka City. It was built by Tokugawa Nariaki, the 9th head of the Mito Clan for the purpose of casting cannons. It was destroyed during the internal strife of the Tenguto Rebellion in 1864 but was restored in the early Showa period. It is also recognized as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
