This shrine is located in front of Tarumi Station in the Miyamoto-cho area of Tarumi-ku, Kobe City. The Three Watatsumi Gods, Sokotsuwatatsumi, Nakatsuwatatsumi and Uwatsuwatatsumi are revered as sacred gods of voyage safety, fishery prosperity and traffic safety, and the Maritime Safety Festival is held every year on October 12.

JR垂水駅・山陽垂水駅の西口からすぐ。参道は駅とは反対側から続いている。神社名は「わたつみじんじゃ」。創建年不明。祭神は上津綿津見神、中津綿津見神、底津綿津見神。拝殿・本殿ともに木造銅板葺き。神功皇后が綿津見三神を祀ったところ暴風雨が収まったというのが由来で、航海安全・漁業繁栄の御利益があるとされている。立派な神社であるが、境内に大きく駐車場が取られているのが残念。

ＪＲ垂水駅の南側に隣接している歴史ある神社です。社伝では神功皇后の時代に遡るとの事ですが、文献に名前が出てくるのは９世紀初頭になります。どちらにしても古い話ですね。境内は、ほどほど広くゆっくりと参拝出来ます。
