Hamura Folk Museum

An educational facility designed to cultivate the cultural imagination of city residents which was opened in 1985. The museum presents exhibits on the plant and animal life, climate, history, and culture of Hamura City, including a standing exhibition dedicated to the theme of the area's growth and development along the Tama River. Hamura was carved out of the Musashino Terrace, and its history is inseparable from that of the Tama River. The Old Shimoda Residence, displayed outside the museum, is a home which was built in 1847 and later moved here and restored. The residence has been designated a National Tangible Folk Cultural Property.

羽村氏の歴史や風土、郷土、風習などわかりやすく展示する学習施設。玉川上水の成り行きなど大変参考になるて㎜地や資料が展示され、実際移築された古民家住宅などもあり、当時の暮らしを見ることが出来ます。
ひな祭り展開催中！静かで落ち着いた雰囲気。嫌いじゃないですよ。

世田谷から多摩川沿いをサイクリングに出掛けた際、立ち寄った場所。もともと計画にはなくて、というか、いつもそんな感じなんだけど（苦笑）、羽村の取水堰で玉川兄弟の銅像と写真を撮った後に橋を渡って対岸に来たのだ。建物自体は、とても立派できちんと自転車用の駐輪場もある。平日と言うこともあって何と来館者は私一人だった。完全に貸し切り状態だ。受付スタッフの女性に「写真も撮っていいですか？」と尋ねると「いい...
