Hokekyoji Temple

Temple
This temple is located at Nakayama2-Chome, Ichikawa City. This temple was established by combining the Hokkeji and Honmyoji temples during the Kamakura period. The shrine of the founder within the premises is built in a rare hiyoku-irimoya construction style and is designated a national important cultural property. Also known for its beautiful cherry blossoms, in the spring and autumn the Senbue and Oeshiki ceremonies are held, and an open market antique is hosted at the same time.

    初詣の準備が始まりつつあった大晦日に行きました。日蓮宗の大本山で、あの国宝「立正安国論」が寺宝、建造物の多くが重文となっています。多くの方は本堂と五重塔を見て帰るようで四足門や法華堂は貸切状態で静かに見学できました。日蓮手書きの書物には、当時の事務書類の裏を使用したものがあり、その事務書類の内容から当時の東国の人身売買の実態がわかったという、聖地とは裏腹な貴重な資料もあるようで驚きました。
