This wine museum is in Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Known as the oldest wooden winery in Japan, this building is now a Yamanashi Prefecture Registered Tangible Cultural Property. The hall has displays introducing the creation of wine, and the history of Chateau Mercian. It also displays equipment actually used in the making of wine.

日本の、そして勝沼とワインの歴史が学べるとても貴重な資料館です。しかも無料です。駐車場は資料館の前にはありません。駐車スペースはありますが、ハンディキャッパー用です。メルシャンの駐車場が歩いて200m位の所にあるので、こちらを利用してください。資料館の前にはメルシャンの販売部署もあります。ワインが好きな方には必須のスペースです。

日本のワインの発祥の地。明治時代に2人の山梨の青年が欧州に渡りワイン作りを学び日本に戻って来たそうです。メルシャンはそのワイナリーを引き継ぐ由緒あるワイナリーなんだそうです。資料館の奥にはワイン用品種が植えられています。素晴らしい景色も楽しめます。
