"This museum is located approximately a 20-minute drive from the west exit of JR Okayama Station. It is situated on the southern side of Mt. Kibi-nonakayama, one of the famous mountains appeared in ""The Pillow Book"". As a base for the protection and preservation of buried cultural properties of the prefecture, about 400 excavated items such as Jomon pottery and Yayoi pottery are displayed regularly. It regularly carries out temporary exhibitions, and you can learn more about the history of the local area from the exhibits and panel explanations."

展示室は小規模ながら、出土品を選りすぐり、コンパクトに縄文時代から中世までの岡山県の歴史を概観できるように工夫してあります。企画展も定期的にやっています。先の口コミの情報は正確ではなく、土日も基本的に開いているようです。

岡山県はいわずとしれた古代吉備国。ここは先史時代からの古代の遺物を展示し、岡山県の古代史をひもとくきっかけを与えてくれます。縄文時代の土器や弥生時代の高床式倉庫跡など、発掘調査で出土した貴重な資料を多数展示。このエントランスホールに設置しているパソコンで、文化財情報も見ることができます。アクセスは車必須。

吉備津神社から山を越えてかなりの道を行くのでちょっと覚悟が必要です。しかし、そのつもりでいたら、ここって土日は休みなんですね。平日しかやってないって観光客を拒絶しているのと同じこと。何とかならないかなと思います。
