Roadside Station Osumi Yagoro Legendary Village

Michi no Eki Road Station
A roadside station with a distinctive monument to livestock located a 30-minute drive from Shibushi City. The station’s name is derived from the tale of a legendary giant called Yagoro which is told in the Miyazaki and Kagoshima regions. The Yagorodon Festival Hall stands on the grounds and houses a “life-sized” statue of Yagoro. The Yagoro Farmer’s Market, also located on the station’s grounds, sells seasonal vegetables, meats and animal products, and processed foods. The market bustles in summer with customers come to purchase super sweet Yagoro watermelons which boast a Brix reading of at least 11 degrees.
