Roadside Station Tarumizu Yuttarikan
A roadside station located 30-minute drive from the Kokubu interchange on the Kyushu Expressway traveling along National Route 220 towards Tarumizu. Here visitors can enjoy spectacular scenery and hot spring bathing. Visitors can soak weary feet in the station’s footbath while taking in a view of Sakurajima floating in Kinko Bay and the distant Kirishima Mountains. In addition to a shop carrying a wide selection of local specialty products, the station’s hot spring bathhouse is constantly supplied “kakenagashi” style from a rare natural radon hot spring. With a little luck, you just might see dolphin swimming by from the station’s ocean view restaurant. Particularly recommended restaurant choices include the seafood rice bowl topped with local specialties yellowtail and amberjack. The hearty, flavorful sashimi covering the rice is sure to satisfy.
