"The temple was built in the early Edo period (1624-45) by Tenkai Tenkai, the great priest Jigen Daishi, who founded Kan'eizan Kan'eiji Temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism. The temple is opened once a year only on the day of the ""Minarukane Festival"" in September."
