Shibuya Center-gai shopping street

Street
The Shibuya Center-gai shopping street got its start when the entire area in front of Shibuya Station was renovated as part of a town planning project launched in 1955. Located in the heart of busy Shibuya, the street is constantly bustling--some 50,000 people visit the area on weekdays and 70,000 on weekends and holidays. The bronze statue of the famously loyal dog Hachiko, a popular meeting spot, was unveiled in a grand ceremony all the way back in 1934.
