Kumano-jinja Shrine

Shrine
A Shinto shrine dedicated to the gods Izanagi no Mikoto and Hayatama no O no Mikoto. It is not clear just when the shrine was founded, but according to legend it was erected by Kumano Gorotakemichi, a follower of Fujiwara no Tsunemochi, in prayer for their victory when they left to suppress the rebellion of Taira no Masakado. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, many trees and other plants grow on the shrine's grounds.
