Mabashi Inari-jinja Shrine

Shrine
A Shinto shrine located in Asagayaminami, Suginami City, Tokyo. Believed to have been founded at the end of the Kamakura period, the shrine is primarily dedicated to the gods Ukanomitama no Kami and Omatonozu no Kami. During the Hatsuuma Festival in February, a mochi glutinous rice ball pounding ceremony is held in which shrine parishioners sing traditional songs while pounding the mochi rice with a mallet.

    阿佐ヶ谷南の住宅街にそびえる立派な神社です。ちゃんとした参道もあり手水も配され癒しのスポットになってます。七五三お祝いがやってました。鳥居が5個くらいあります。

    旧馬橋村の鎮守様、創建年代は不明とのことですが、由緒書によると鎌倉時代末期の創建と伝わっています。そう言えば近くに鎌倉街道も通っていますから。この地に祀られたのは江戸時代初期だということはハッキリしているようです。境内には都内最大の開運の大鈴、東京三鳥居の一つ石造大鳥居には昇龍・降龍が彫刻されています。

    阿佐ヶ谷の住宅街の中に佇む馬橋稲荷神社。石造りの二の鳥居には双龍(昇り龍と下り龍)が彫られており威厳を感じます。鬱蒼と繁る境内の樹木には厳かな気配を感じずにはいられません。
