Yanaka Ginza
Located around five minutes’ walk from JR Nippori Station, Yanaka Ginza is a shopping street that retains a strong traditional ambience. Most of the shops are independent stores run by the owners; approximately 70 stores are packed into a street that is roughly 170 meters in length. Yanaka Ginza’s unique atmosphere, redolent of Tokyo’s traditional Shitamachi urban districts, and the friendly, straightforward customer service that the shops provide, attract large numbers of visitors not only from Japan but also from overseas. What makes a visit to Yanaka Ginza particularly enjoyable is being able to have a bit to eat while strolling along the street. A wide range of distinctive snacks and sweets are available, and exploring what the different stores have to offer is part of the fun.
