Kushifuru Shrine

Shrine
This shrine is said to be the where the grandson of the sun goddess descended to earth, and worships the deity of Kushifuru-no-mine. Originally, it was the sacred mountain of Kushifuru, but now it is dedicated to the main deity of “Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the grandchild of Amaterasu”. In addition, sumo wrestling is performed as part of Shinto harvest festivities on the 16th of October every year during the autumn Thanksgiving Festival.
