It carries our protection activities for rare wildlife of Tsushima including the endangered Tsushima wild cat that only lives in Tsushima. In addition, the center has exhibits on the unique ecosystems and natural environments formed in Tsushima, and the ecology of the Tsushima wild cat.

環境保護の必要性を再認識できる

絶滅危惧種の野生ネコとしてイリオモテヤマネコと共に貴重なツシマヤマネコを保護する施設で、「かなた君」と云うツシマヤマネコの生態を見学できます。朝一番で訪れたので、活発に動き回る姿を見ることができました。(午後は寝ていることが多いそうです。)。丸く小さめで白斑のある耳や額の縞、柔和な顔がなんとも愛らしく、残された100頭足らずを残し増やしていく人間の責任を感じました。

保護していたヤマネコは死亡してしまいましたが、展示があるので、ヤマネコの生態や状態を勉強できます。車で行くには、細めの道を結構行くので、頑張って下さい。
