Nagasaki City Takashima Coal Museum

This museum located in Takashima-cho, Nagasaki City. It has exhibits related to coal mining that was developed the Takashima area as a key industry from the Meiji to Showa periods (1868-1989). You can experience the history of the area's coal mines through displays of items such as tool used in coal mines, models of a Takashima coal mine, excavated items from the Hokkeisei pit, and a corner about Gunkanjima (Battleship Island). In addition, there is also a model of Gunkanjima on display in the plaza in front of the museum.
