Rakusuien
A traditional Japanese pond strolling garden located in a corner of an office district in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. The garden is situated on the site of a villa built by the Hakata merchant Shimozawa Zen'emon Chikamasa in 1906. After World War II, the villa was used as a ryokan inn, but in 1995 it was transformed into a Japanese garden by the city of Fukuoka. The garden's name is derived from the former name of the ryokan, which was called Rakusuiso.
