This history and culture museum is located inside Tamematsu Park in Nakamura, Shimanto City. It is located at the ruins of Nakamura Castle, the castle of Yamauchi Yasutoyo, the younger brother of Yamauchi Kazutoyo, the lord of Tosa. It features exhibits related to the history and culture of the area along the Shimanto River, as well as ancient manuscripts, artwork, and more. The castle tower portion of the museum’s building, which is designed to look like a castle, features an observation deck with a sweeping view of the city.

四万十の自然と暮らしと歴史

車で坂を上り、さらに車を駐めて短い山道を登るとあります。1Fは四万十の暮らし、歴史、自然環境。2Fは歴史。3Fは企画展示で訪問した際は学制150年の学校に関する展示でした。6Fは展望台になっていて、街が見渡せます。

犬山城を模した天守閣の作りにした郷土博物館。中世の城下町として一條教房らが策定した幡多庄中村の歴史を中心に、四万十の歴史と地理的特徴がよくわかるように工夫されていて、見応えがありました。3階までが資料展示。そのうえは最上階（6階）まであがると素晴らしい展望が開けました。中村市街と四万十川を見晴るかすことができ、一見の価値があります。
よく整備された為松公園の中にある。

為松公園には幾つもの駐車場があるようだが、四万十市立郷土博物館をカーナビに入れたら、車がすれ違えないような道だった。
