Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street
"Shinsaibashi-suji is a shopping street located in Chuo Ward, Osaka City. The street has a long history; in the Edo period (1603-1868), it flourished as a route leading to the Dotonbori theater district, and there was a popular saying: ""Ginza in the East, Shinsaibashi in the West."" Today, Shinsaibashi-suji is lined by around 180 businesses, including fashion boutiques, lifestyle stores, specialty stores and gourmet restaurants. The area to the north of Nagabori street has always had many textile wholesalers located there, and is known as the ""Senba Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street""; for a fashion-related business in Osaka, opening a store there is a mark of success and status."
