Yoshida-jinja Shrine

This shrine honors the Shinto deity Susanoo no mikoto. With connections to the god Gozu Tenno, it's been favored by warriors since the days of old. The shrine is nationally famous on account of July's Toyohashi Gion Festival. The celebration features a variety of events, including participants setting off hand held temochi-hanabi. These bamboo cylinders packed with gun powder held aloft erupt in a fountain of spark and flame. There's also an enormous fireworks display, a portable shrine event where parishioners transfer its Shinto god from one place to another, Sasa odori dance performances with participants in scarlet costumes, and the Yoritomo Parade which re-enacts a procession of the warlord Minamoto no Yoritomo.

境内に《隕石[影降石（天降石）]》が残る神社を初めて参拝しました

こちらは《手筒花火発祥の地》で有名ですが境内に《隕石[影降石（天降石）添付写真参照]》が残っていることご存知でしょうか。日本国内に数えられないほど神社がありますが《隕石》がある神社はとても珍しいと思いますので機会あれば参拝されては如何でしょうか、7月開催される《祇園祭》でなければ参拝客も少なく参道の《隕石[影降石（天降石）]》を簡単に見つけられます。
疫病退散です

説明書からですが、鎌倉時代に疫病退散という観点から牛頭天王を勧請し創建したとの説が有るそうです。京都八坂神社に似ていますね。手筒花火発祥の地としてお祭りが7月第3金曜日に有ります。余談ですが豊橋市役所展望台に紹介コーナーが有ります。

路面電車の「市役所前」電停から徒歩10分ほど。豊川沿いに鎮座している。創建年不明。1869年に吉田神社と改称。祭神は素盞嗚尊。拝殿は木造瓦葺き。本殿は1893年の再建で木造銅板葺きのようだが塀と木に遮られてよく見えない。7月の豊橋祗園祭で奉納される手筒花火が有名で、参道脇には「手筒花火発祥之地」の石碑が立てられている。
