A cafe in operating out of a village government office which served the governor of Kurashiki from the time when Naoshima was under direct imperial control and Hyoemon 21st head of the Miyake clan, was appointed the first headman until the early Meiji period. The two buildings of the cafe, the main building and a row house with a room for guards to live in, have been designated Cultural Properties and groups of 10 or more with an advance reservation can enjoy a meal in the tatami mat room of the main building while gazing at the site's Japanese garden.

Cycled past here in the rain, went in. Delicious curry - only 2 options, veg curry or chicken curry when we went, which suits me just fine. Warm inside, chef and host spoke English well, great music...

直島で本村地区を散策していて、お昼を食べたくなり、遅めのランチでこちらの店に来ました。民家を利用しいて(直島は殆どそうですが)、雰囲気のある店です。店内はランチのお客さんも帰った後らしく、ちょっと空いていました。普通の味の定食ですが、雰囲気が良かったです。

サービス業をしている感覚が無いのでは？と思われるくらい対応が良くないです。メニューも少なく、味もよくない。文化財という看板で、来客が切れないと思っているのかも・・・
