Honenji Temple
This Buddhist temple has a five tiered pagoda whose construction was completed in 2011. The temple is located on the site of the temple that became the home of the great monk and priest Honen after he was exiled to Shikoku at the age of 75. The Sanbutsudo main hall enshrines a statue of the Buddha lying down and represents his entering Nirvana; the statue is surrounded by 52 additional almost life-sized statues of people and animals.
