Izutama-jinja Shrine (Okusha)

Shrine
Izutama-jina Shrine's Okusha sanctuary is at 421 meters above sea level. A roughly one-kilometer foot path through dense woods with the feel of a mountain trail brings you to a flight of 1,368 stone steps that lead up to it. There's a terrific view from the grounds that takes in the town of Kotohira, Sanuki Fuji, and even the Seto Inland Sea. The sanctuary honors Izutamahiko-no-Mikoto, the founder of the Kotohira Honkyo. The shrine shop sells amulets and paper omikuji oracles thought to bring good luck.
