Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park
This northernmost national park has the largest high marshland in Japan. There are many things to see on Rishiri Island, the home of the famous mountain “Mt. Rishiri”, also known as Rishiri Fuji, as well as rare plant species such as Rebun lady’s slipper and Rebun edelweiss, as well as Kanro Natural Spring which is chosen as one of the Select Best Waters of Japan, and also Penke and Panke Swamps, the landing grounds of migrating birds. In addition to being able to browse materials on the ecology of marshlands and wild birds at the “Horonobe Visitor Center” in the park, you are also able to pick up a map of the Sarobetsu wooden path there.
