Hyuga Shinwakan
Japan’s first wax figure museum dedicated to Japanese myths located on the grounds of Aoshima Jinja. The museum presents 12 segments from Japanese myths in an easy to understand way using 30 wax figures, including the descent of the sun goddess; the story “Yamasachihiko, Umisahihiko,” which relates to the deities the shrine is dedicated to; and the conquest of Japan by Emperor Jinmu. The museum also displays wax figures of the Seven Gods of Fortune and former Yomiuri Giants baseball coach Shigeo Nagashima, who frequently went camping in Miyazaki.
