Takeo Onsen (武雄温泉・大衆浴場 鷲乃湯)

0954232001  Saga Pref. Takeoshi Takeochou Takeo 7425

Takeo Onsen operates three large public baths—the Motoyu, Saginoyu, and Horaiyu. The Motoyu is a wooden bath originally built in 1876, while the Horaiyu includes an open-air bath and sauna. At all of the baths, visitors can enjoy superb, clean mildly alkali hot spring water from the Takeo hot spring. The two-story gate at the entrance to the baths as well as the annex used for some of the public baths were designed by Tatsuno Kingo, who also designed the Bank of Japan Headquarters and Tokyo Station, and these structures are nationally designated Important Cultural Properties.
