Kasanoya
A tea house where guests can enjoy Umegae mochi rice cakes, a local Dazaifu specialty. People love the simple flavor of adzuki sweet beans toasted inside chewy pounded mochi and uruchi rice. Worshipers visiting the local shrines and temples swear the Umegae mochi and green tea (complete with lucky floating tea stalk) set brings good fortune. Every month on the 17th, the shop sells Umegae mochi made with ancient rice varieties, while on the 25th it sells Umegae mochi made with Japanese mugwort. Located immediately after passing through the two torii gates from Dazaifu Station.
