This stands approximately 800 meters due north of Suzakumon (Suzaku Gate), the main entrance to Heijo Palace, with the front being about 44 meters, the sides about 20 meters, and a height of approximately 27 meters. This is Heijo Palace’s largest palace with 44 vermilion-colored columns 70-centimeter in diameter and utilizing approximately 97,000 roof tiles. Ceremonies were held here in the past such as the Emperor of Japan’s enthronement and ceremonies to welcome foreign delegations.
