Antarctic research ship Fuji

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
Anchored at the Port of Nagoya Garden Pier and open to the public, this Antarctic research ship is Japan’s first full-scale icebreaker. Visitors can tour the interior of the ship and the helicopter deck, and in the museum which is inside a former hangar is a diorama that recreates the appearance of an outdoor survey to introduce the nature of Antarctica and the significance of carrying out surveys. Visitors can experience the lifestyle of an Antarctic exploration through seeing the bridge, galley (kitchen), barbershop, and survey team’s bedrooms that were actually used during the voyages. The closest station is Nagoyako Station.
