Akihabara Electric Town
This is Japan’s number one electric town as a market for electrical goods that developed from roots as a black market after World War II. It has become one of Japan’s foremost tourist attractions and now there are anime shops and hobby shops, in addition to stores selling home electronics, parts, computers and digital equipment. The number of stores offering goods free of sales tax to foreign tourists is increasing, and every day it is visited by many people. It is only a short five minutes’ walk from Akihabara Station.
