Institute for Nature Study National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo
This is an area of forested green spaces attached to the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo with an abundance of nature remaining in the center of Tokyo. The entire site is designated as a Natural Monument and Historic Site. Various kinds of plants, deciduous trees and evergreens grow naturally and it is also a famous spot to view cherry blossoms and the colors of the autumn leaves. More than 2,000 kinds of insects have been recorded in the garden, as well as wild birds such as the Japanese White Eye (mejiro) and kingfishers. The area is known as a valuable spot where living things can be observed closely. The nearest station in Meguro or Shirokanedai Station.
