Uwajima City Bullfighting Arena is a domed stadium in which bullfighting contests are held, with bulls weighing over a ton being pitted against one another. The Arena opened in 1975. Bullfighting contests are held on January 2, the first Sunday in April, July 24 (the date of the Uwajima Ushi-oni Festival), August 14, and the fourth Sunday in October (Bullfights may also be held on other dates by special arrangement). On days when bullfighting does not take place, visitors to the Arena can watch video footage of previous contests.

開催日は限られていますので事前に調べてから行く必要があります。宇和島の中心部からはバスでアクセスすることができます。飲食自由、撮影自由で、試合前後に牛を見学することもできます。迫力ある試合を間近で眺められるので、日程が合えば絶対に行くべきです。事前にネットでチケットを買うと500円引きになりお得です。ただ、残念なことに地元の方のマナーが極めて悪く、トイレが混んでいるからと人前で立小便をしたり(こ...
迫力ある闘牛と牛への愛情

宇和島の闘牛を初めて見ました。闘牛前後の牛はとてもやさしいのですが、いざ闘牛となると満身の力を振り絞り筋肉が浮き出てきます。文化と伝統と牛への愛情を教えていただきました。外国の一部の人々は、動物への虐待と言う人が居ますが、牛相撲と考えています。力比べと牛への愛情。勝っても負けても牛への拍手と声援。忘れられません！！

日本で数箇所しか開催されていない貴重なものです。牛対牛の力相撲です。宇和島闘牛は勝敗が決まるまで（片方の戦意喪失）続けます。闘わずして負けの不戦勝から、２０分以上の長丁場まで、対戦相手の噛み合わせ次第で結果は様々です。今回の観戦では横綱仁王の不屈の根性が素晴らしかったです。前日１５時までにＨＰからネット予約すると、１人５００引きになります。
