Mt. Yotei (Ezo Fuji)
Mt. Yotei is a renowned mountain that is emblematic of Hokkaido and also counts among Japan’s One Hundred Most Celebrated Mountains. Located in the southern part of Hokkaido’s Shiribeshi area (northwest Iburinokuni), it is a stratovolcano with an elevation of 1,898 meters. Because of its beautiful shape which is similar to Mt. Fuji, it is also called Ezo Fuji. In addition to more than 100 varieties of alpine plants, many mammals and birds, including Ezo red foxes and Hokkaido squirrels, also live there nurturing a rich ecosystem.
